Rhapsody in Red

Born in Texas in 1894, Gordon Conway was a fashion illustrator and designer whose work embodies the flapper culture of the 1920s. Her talent for drawing was discovered at a dinner party, when her doodles on a menu caught the eye of a friend, who showed them to the art director at Conde Nast. Shortly after, Conway made her modern, linear illustrations for the likes of Vanity Fair, Vogue and Tatler. Conway was also a fashion designer and socialite, who, with her cat Mr. Fing, entertained high society in London and Paris. Conway's fresh, fashionable drawings exude vintage glamour.
