Louise Body (B.1974) lives in Hastings on the South Coast of the UK with her husband and two children. A recurring subject in Louise’s work is the coastal landscape.
“Having lived by the sea for most of my life I am naturally drawn to using this in my work. I paint from memory, creating places through a balance between representational and abstract forms, as if combining the imprint of a photograph in your mind which is then abstracted by the memories and feelings of a place.”- Louise Body
Louise studied Painting at Nottingham Trent University and graduated in 1996 with a BA Hons in Fine Art. Her love of painting began as a child, both her grandmothers were artists and Louise’s parents both went to art school. After studying, Louise’s career took a slight detour into the world of design. In 2003 she set up her own company, designing and producing wallpaper and fabric. Louise’s wallpapers were sold worldwide and led to some exciting collaborations with brands such as Paul Smith, Dr Martens and Osborne & Little. In March 2020 Louise made the decision to leave the world of wallpapers and textiles to paint full-time.
