Artist's Studio, 1988

Patrick Caulfield CBE (1936 - 2005) was born in London and was an English painter and printmaker. He reinvigorated the still life genre, depicting everyday objects and interiors in saturated, block colours and simplified black outlines.  He studied at The Chelsea School of Art and The Royal College of Art, and is associated with British Pop Art Movement. During his lifetime he had major retrospectives at the Serpentine Gallery, Hayward Gallery and Tate Gallery. In 2013, a major survey of his work was held at Tate Britain.
