Alice and the Flamingo

Sir John Tenniel (1820-1914) was a celebrated English artist, best known for his illustrations of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Tenniel began working with Carroll in 1864, who famously gave the artist very specific instructions about how to illustrate his stories. Also a perfectionist himself, Tenniel completed 42 drawings for Alice’ Adventures in Wonderland and 50 for Through the Looking Glass. Now a household name, Tenniel’s classic illustrations are loved by children and adults alike.
