Love Letters, 1950

One of Britain's most significant painters, Sir Stanley Spencer (1891-1959) is celebrated for his charming garden landscapes, raw depictions of his personal life and unique interpretations of biblical narratives- all set in his hometown of Cookham, Berkshire. Today much of his work is held between the Stanley Spencer Gallery in Cookham and the Tate Britain who own the largest collection of his work in the world.
